Much to the chagrin of the Fire Tomlin party, Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike Tomlin has been revealed to have one undeniable edge over the other 31 NFL head coaches at the Scouting Combine: popularity.
Fox Sports recently completed its NFL Combine Confidential at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, and the results were surprising, to say the least. Out of the 300-plus draft prospects, Fox Sports selected just 40 players to answer questions ranging from their favorite non-football athlete to the best player they ever played against in college.
One particularly exciting question was, “Which NFL coach would you most like to play for?”—and the answer highlights just how much Tomlin’s reputation as a player’s coach precedes him.
Tomlin won with nine votes, while Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid and Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell tied with eight. While this may come as a shock to those advocating for Steelers President Art Rooney II to part ways with Tomlin, it raises the question of whether some of the blame should be shifted away from the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach.
