There’s something quite special about the feel of a town that consists mainly of locally owned small businesses. Here in the Hudson Valley there’s no shortage of just that, home grown businesses that source and sell local products. Sometimes, though, with the evolving needs of a community, something new needs to come to town to fill a need, and that is what seems to be in the works in the Village of New Paltz.
2025 has already brought several changes to the New Paltz area, with new additions to town like the highly anticipated Little Loaf Bakeshop, and new late night sushi offerings nat Main Street Bistro.
Now, a fitness option has formally been announced for a somewhat ‘historic’ building on the lower end of Main Street in the Village of New Paltz. The building, formerly home to New Paltz Savings Bank, and most recently Wells Fargo, has been on the market for a bit, and in late 2024, it was confirmed that Hudson Valley Credit Union would soon occupy a portion of the building.
Now, we know what else will be soon make the space home.
The popularity of around the clock fitness facilities has long been a topic of discussion, with several big name gyms going 24-7 on and off again, but this one facility remains open all the time, anytime if you will.
Anytime Fitness will be moving into the shared space at 29 Main Street, New Paltz, offering something that the existing facilities do not, 24-hour fitness options. With personal and group training, fitness consultation plans, nutrition and group fitness options, Anytime Fitness is preparing for their New Paltz expansion.
So far, the announcement seems well received by the community, with of course a few objections from locals who claim the area ‘already has a gym,’ while others appear excited about the new options the facility will bring to New Paltz.
