GAMBRILLS, MD — The Fresh Market, a new grocery store, is now open in Gambrills.
The supermarket celebrated its grand opening on Oct. 30 in the Crofton Station shopping center.
This is the second Fresh Market in Anne Arundel County and the fifth in Maryland. The other locations are in Annapolis, Baltimore, Rockville and Towson.
The Fresh Market partially fills the vacancy left by Giant Food, which moved across the street in January 2023.
Crofton Station has undergone some changes since Giant relocated.
Other new businesses that opened since Giant left include Chase Bank, Nekter Juice Bar, Taichi Bubble Tea, Sugaring NYC and Amazing Lash Studio.
Instead of cutting the ribbon, The Fresh Market broke the bread outside its new store.
The supermarket, the chain’s 162nd location overall, has a deli in the center of the store. The stand serves restaurant-quality barbecue, including brisket that’s smoked for 12 hours over locally sourced wood. The counter also serves fresh pizza and scooping salads.
Elsewhere in the store, customers can find stations for coffee and smoothies. With over 30 varieties of The Fresh Market Coffee Beans, caffeine lovers have a wide selection for at-home brewing.
There are also grab-and-go breakfast pastries along with the bakery’s brand-new walk-around case.
The supermarket further boasted its fresh produce, hand-cut meats and extensive seafood offerings. Prepared seafood options include stuffed fish, breaded shrimp and crab cakes.
The company presented a check to the Maryland Food Bank at the grand opening. This is the third Fresh Market to provide ongoing weekly food donations to the local food bank.
