Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point has commenced construction on a new fitness center, a significant investment aimed at enhancing the health and readiness of servicemembers. The facility, spanning over 90,000 square feet, will replace the current gym, which was established in 1997 in a converted warehouse.
Facilities Director Commander Chris Over said, “The project has been in the works for 3 years now,” and is anticipated to be completed by the fall of 2026.
The new center, with a budget of $57 million, received its funding in August. Officials emphasized the importance of this development for the Marines and sailors stationed at the base.
