A new bar, restaurant, and mini-golf spot took up residence in Nampa’s downtown recently.
Derek and Carole McClintick opened Pub and Putt at 1215 2nd St. S. in Nampa in December.
Self-described craft beer aficionados, Derek McClintick said the spot offers local and regional beers, as well as pizza and a nine-hole mini golf course.
“We thought pizza and beer was a great idea — everyone seems to like that combination,” McClintick said, adding that the mini-golf idea came from a similar business near Lake Tahoe.
While kids are welcome for part of the day, the business transitions to 21-and-over at 7 p.m., McClintick said.
The couple fell in love with Nampa over the years traveling to visit family in the area. Hailing from Napa and working in the hospitality industry, McClintick said he taught hospitality management locally there.
As their daughter headed off to college, the McClinticks sought a change of scenery while also feeling a sense of “unfinished business” — the pull of their love of craft beer. That prompted securing the space for the business ahead of their move to the area over the summer.
McClintick said he works with six beverage distributors to source both local craft beer as well as beer from neighboring states. He said he strives to bring in beers that grocery stores often don’t stock.
“The idea is that when people walk in the door, we have a big digital menu up and they can look up there and hopefully, if you come in once a week or every other week, you know there’s a few new items up there and kind of keeps you coming back wondering what we might have,” McClintick said.
Pub and Putt’s pizza has a thin crust, with types including a bacon, sundried tomato, and hot honey pizza, and a smoked brisket pizza with pickled sweet peppers, McClintick said. Guests can also build their own pizza, he said.
The business will host a grand opening on Jan. 11 from 3-9 p.m., including door prizes, a hole-in-one challenge, and membership giveaways.
There are two kinds of membership, McClintick said. Founding memberships — of which there are about 30 left — are $495 for a lifetime membership, which includes perks such as unlimited mini golf for one person, 15% off food, merch, and to-go beverages, and discounts and early access to ticketed events, according to the business’s Instagram.

The other membership is the “pints and putters” membership, which is for $85 a year, or a lifetime membership for $395, McClintick said.
He emphasized that the business is already open, and is enjoying welcoming guests, many of whom are local.
“We’re excited to be part of the community, and we look forward to seeing everyone,” he said.
