New competition on Transfermarkt: Qatar’s second division joins the database

With the implementation of Qatar’s second division, Transfermarkt’s database expands to include another competition. The record champions of the Qatari Second Division are Al-Markhiya SC, with six trophies.
One of the biggest names currently in the league, where relegation to the third division is not possible, is former Premier League player Benik Afobe who played 63 times in the English Premier League. Most of the foreign players come from Egypt (27), followed by Sudan with twelve players. The league kicked off in September; the first market value update will take place this winter.
