FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) – The Negaunee Elks Lodge fundraised for kids with its annual golf outing.
The Major Project and Gold Key Golf Outing raises scholarships for nontraditional students and sponsors kids at Bay Cliff Health Camp.
The golf outing featured 17 teams playing 18 holes of best ball scrambles and basket raffles donated by area businesses.
John Thomas, Negaunee Elks Lodge exulted ruler, said they fundraise for these because Bay Cliff is dear to the people of the U.P. and nontraditional students don’t get as many scholarship opportunities as traditional ones.
“People give scholarships out for many different things, including the Elks itself, we give out many different scholarships for the traditional student,” Thomas said. “This is just our way of recognizing and looking at these students who are overlooked many of the times. This is a way to take a look and put the spotlight on them and give back to them.”
Thomas said they want to thank everyone who helped make the golf outing possible.
