HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Nebraskans who are wanting to add a little extra activity into their daily lives can benefit by joining the WellPower Movement.
This is a free web-based activity tracking program put on by the Nebraska Sports Council (NSC).
During the year, NSC offers up three challenges to participants to help them increase their health and well being.
The first one, the WellPower 100 Challenge, is now underway. For the next six weeks, participants are encouraged to track their daily physical activity with the goal of reaching 100 miles.
You have until Feb. 26 to add in your activity with the chance to win real prizes as well as virtual badges.
Nebraska Sports Council President, Dave Mlnarik, said those who log at least 100 miles will earn the WellPower 100 badge and qualify for the top-prize drawing, which includes five $100 Scheels gift cards. There are also dozens of lower-tier prizes and over 500 virtual badges available to those who log at least 25 miles.
“It (WellPower 100) is in place to basically provide some extra motivation for people to be physically active,” said Mlnarik.
He said there are about 9,500 people who have signed up on the website.
The WellPower Movement also offers a group function for companies and organizations to implement into their wellness program.
He said more than 350 companies have used the platform since it was created in 2017.
“Businesses and companies know that a well workforce is an efficient workforce and the business just runs better,” Mlnarik said. “The people do more, they are more productive and if they are healthy then they are in a better state of mind.”
He said this program is pretty unique in that you are part of a statewide group.
“If you are already fit, active, healthy, you may not need it for yourself, but by participating you can inspire others,” Mlnarik said.
You can register for free at the WellPower Movement website.
