PALM DESERT, Calif. – The North Dakota State women’s golf team opened its spring schedule at the Mountain Classic Match Play falling short in the first round against St. Thomas, 4-0-1, on Monday afternoon.
Norah Roberts picked up the only win for NDSU after opening up a two-hole advantage by hole 10. Amelia Morton answered for the Tommies to square the match with a birdie on hole 12. Roberts responded hitting par on the next five holes to secure the 2&1 victory.
Hannah Dunk came up just short in her match after being all square with two holes to play. However, Emma Davies was able card back-to-back pars to secure the 1&0 win. Madi Hicks dropped a 2&1 decision, while Avery Bartels fell 3&1 and Elise Hoven dropped a 3&2 decision.
On the individual side, Cora Larson came up short against Frankie Dezis, 4&3. Jo Baranczyk also dropped a 1&0 decision against Samantha Spielman. Lily Vincelli finished tied with Macee Greenwood after the duo was all square for the final seven holes.
