MONTERREY, Mexico – North Dakota State men’s golf opened up the Monterrey Collegiate Classic on Friday at the Club Campestre Monterrey, sitting in third overall at -10 at the halfway point.
 
The Bison played the first 27 of 54 holes in the event with a -8 opening round, followed by a -2 through nine holes of the second round. The Bison sit three shots off the lead, held by Loyola Maryland (-13).
 
Rylin Petry leads the way for the Bison after day one, sitting in a tie for seventh overall at -4. Petry opened up with a 70 (-2) in the first round and dropped two more strokes over his first nine holes of round two.
 
Josh Galvin and Ian Simonich are one shot back in a tie for 11^th overall. Both golfers led the way for NDSU in the first round with a 69 to sit at -3. The duo is even through the first nine holes of the second round.
 
Jake Skarperud wrapped the scoring rounds for NDSU in the first round with an even par of 72. Skarperud remains even heading into day two and sits in a tie for 28^th overall in the 73-golfer field.
 
Gabe Benson is tied for 44^th overall at +2. Benson fired a 74 in the opening round but has held firm in round two so far, shooting even through nine holes. Max Wilson, playing as an individual, sits in 47^th overall at +3. Wilson shot -1 in round one but is +4 through the first nine holes in round two.
 
The Bison will wrap up the event on Saturday with the final 27 holes at the Club Campestre Monterrey.
