According to Tim MacMahon, the Utah Jazz have begun shopping Jordan Clarkson, John Collins, and Collin Sexton.
We’ve already started hearing these rumors, but this is the first we’re hearing of the Jazz shopping these players. Jazz fans should be excited about this season, even though it means a lot of losses. For the first time in three years, the Jazz are committing to a plan, no more of this floating stuff they’ve done the last two seasons.
The Jazz are in the drivers seat for a top-five pick, especially if they can somehow overtake the Washington Wizards. Regardless, Utah is committed to getting a top pick in this highly touted draft to pair with Lauri Markkanen and their group of young players.
As always, trade rumors are just that—rumors. They’re much different from an actual trade happening. Utah will have a hard time trading Jordan Clarkson, and John Collins, who is having a great season, will also be hard to move. The biggest name of these is Collin Sexton, who is having another nice season for the Jazz. It’s very likely Utah finds a suitor for Sexton, but will they find an offer?
The trade deadline is getting closer, but Utah won’t want to wait. The best thing they can do right now is continue on a trajectory that gives them the best chance at a star in the draft. Trading these veterans now makes that more possible.
