It’s looking like the Utah Jazz may have a potential suitor for Jordan Clarkson. According to Brett Siegel, the Utah Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks have had conversations about Jordan Clarkson.

From Siegel:
One interesting name that has come up in conversations about the Mavs is Utah Jazz veteran guard Jordan Clarkson. The Jazz are open to dealing the former Sixth Man of the Year for future value, whether that be in the form of draft compensation or young talents with potential. John Collins and Collin Sexton are two other players the Jazz are open to moving ahead of the deadline as well for draft compensation.
We’ll see how much validity there is to this, but this coincides with rumors that Jordan Clarkson, Collin Sexton, and John Collins are available. With Kyrie Irving dealing with injury it makes sense the Mavericks might be interested in more depth to get them through the regular season.
The phrasing, “The Jazz are open to dealing the former Sixth Man of the Year for future value, whether that be in the form of draft compensation or young talents with potential,” is interesting. The compensation is likely going to be second-round pick(s). And a “player with potential” likely means a player that hasn’t lived up to expectations that can match Clarkson’s salary.
A quick glance at the Maverick’s salaries, you can see something along the lines of Naji Marshall, Dwight Powell, and possibly Dante Exum to Utah for Clarkson. It doesn’t make a ton of sense at first glance, but maybe the Mavericks really like Clarkson. We’ll see if anything comes of this, but it’s nice to see there are teams that have talked about Clarkson. There may yet be a move out there for him soon.
