NBA superstar Kevin Durant did his best to explain what the 2024 Olympic experience meant to him. And it quickly turned into a viral clip from Netflix’s “Court of Gold,” which premiered Tuesday.
The Phoenix Suns forward got very emotional when reflecting on his life and basketball journey to get to the Olympic stage for the fourth time. And as Durant unsuccessfully fought back tears, it was hard not to notice what he was wearing — at least for a segment of Boston sports fans.
Durant rocked a Boston Bruins hat in the interview. The cap featured a throwback Spoke-B, which the Bruins donned for several decades from 1949-95. As of Tuesday night, the clip had 21.6 million views on the X platform.
So, perhaps Durant is a Bruins fan? That doesn’t seem to be the case, though, given his explanation for why he wore the hat while at the Summer Olympics in Paris.
“It’s black,” Durant told reporters during the Olympics, per Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.

The Bruins’ color black and gold color scheme certainly helps in that regard.
But maybe the Bruins can lean into this a little bit and send Durant more gear to help him coordinate with the hat he already has in his collection.
