Many are already starting to wonder about Duke freshman and presumptive 2025 NBA draft No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg’s potential to excel at the professional level, but others aren’t worried.
ESPN’s Jeremy Woo reported that he spoke to an Eastern Conference scout who is confident that Flagg has a bright future no matter where he lands in next summer’s draft.
“I fully trust in him to maximize every tool he’s got,” the scout told Woo.
Through 12 games, Flagg leads the 10-2 Blue Devils with averages of 16.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 blocks while also adding 1.5 steals. His efficiency could use some improvement, as he’s shooting 42.1 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three-point range.
Flagg’s versatility gives him the ability to fill multiple roles when he enters the NBA. Certain lottery teams would need him to immediately take over as the No. 1 option on offense, while others would use him more for his defensive presence.
Regardless of where he lands, it’s clear that Flagg is on the path to becoming a future superstar in the NBA.
