Milwaukee Bucks second-year wing Andre Jackson has deservedly earned the trust of coach Doc Rivers.
The 6-foot-6 UConn product averaged 10 minutes as a rookie. Without Khris Middleton this season, that number has inflated to 17.3 minutes per game. Jackson is probably the most athletic player on the team outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo and competes as one of the better perimeter defenders in Rivers’ rotation.
However, a recent blunder was shown to a national audience on TNT. The network’s Inside the NBA features a segment titled “Shaqtin’ a Fool,” in which legend Shaquille O’Neal breaks down the previous week’s funniest bloopers from around the league. O’Neal names four nominees, and the fans vote for their favorite.
In the Bucks’ November 8th loss, the 23-year-old Jackson can be seen carelessly inbounding the ball. His soft toss in the direction of Antetokounmpo ends up deflecting off the Greek Freak’s back. O’Neal describes the pass as a “classic no-look” because Antetokounmpo was not expecting the ball. Meanwhile, Knicks’ wing OG Anunoby swoops in and draws a foul on Jackson on his ensuing fast-break layup attempt. The Inside the NBA crew of Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, and Ernie Johnson, alongside O’Neal, were amused by this sequence.
Jackson had a rough night against the Knicks, as he played 17 minutes but recorded three points, one assist, and a block. The young Bucks wing only shot 1 of 3 from the field, as all of his shots were from the arc. Fortunately, Jackson’s miscommunication with Antetokounmpo was overshadowed by other bloopers in Charlotte and San Antonio, as his play only received 10.4 percent of the 1,327 fan votes.
