The NBA, WNBA, and G League will feature new shot clocks for the 2025-26 season. Instead of the familiar rectangular clock that has adorned gyms for decades, the American professional basketball leagues will install round clocks.
NBA writer Mike Vorkunov showed an example on Bluesky yesterday.
The change will answer long-held NBA controversies like, “What is the circumference of a shot clock?” and, “If an ant moving 0.056 kilometers per hour started walking around a shot clock and stopped when it reached a corner, how long would the ant walk?”
Rumors suggest that, in deference to the new shape, the league is considering changing 3-point shots to 3.141592653-point shots next season as well.
