It is hard to believe it is already NBA 2K25 season again. Between NCAA 25 making its Ali-like return to gaming consoles this summer, the Olympics, and all the recruiting news that comes with having to build a roster from scratch, this offseason has flown by like a Mark Pope private jet on its way to secure an in-state recruit. But alas, here we are.
NBA 2K has slow-rolled the unveiling of player ratings for years, and this season is no different. The top 10 players in the game (two of which are former ‘Cats) won’t become official until Monday, however, in the age of the Internet, there are no such things as corporate secrets. 2KRatings.com has all the fresh ’25 ratings, and 33 former Kentucky players are on the list.

The meteoric rise of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from a 4-star recruit to Quade Green’s backup at Kentucky to an NBA Superstar is a case that basketball historians will study for centuries. SGA came in second in MVP voting last season and has single-handedly made the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were in rebuild mode so much that they almost had accumulated more draft picks than they had rostered players just a few years ago, are now contenders in the Western Conference. His NBA2K rating reflects all of this, as he comes in at an incredible 97. This ties him with the second-highest rating in the game behind only Nikola Jokic’s 98.
Gold medal winner, Anthony Davis, also made the top 10 players, coming in at 94, while another former Wildcat whose stock rose significantly during the Olympics, Devin Booker, checks in with a 93 overall rating.
Other interesting updates include Bam Adebayo, who just recently started shooting (and making) a 3-pointer or two a game, now has a 3pt rating of 71, which is just two points behind Julius Randle who was in the 3-point competition two years ago.
Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns are the best-rated 3-point shooters in the game, with Jamal Murray, Tyrese Maxey, and Cason Wallace just slightly behind them. Meanwhile, Shaedon Sharpe and G-Leaguer Hamdiou Diallo take the top two alumni spots for best dunkers.
This year’s NBA list of former Kentucky players may be one to snapshot, as the constant smattering of former ‘Cats into the League will undoubtedly slow down considerably. It doesn’t mean we can’t still appreciate these guys still repping Kentucky on basketball’s biggest stage.
