The basketball season is upon us yet again, and if you are ready to get your hoops on in NBA 2K25, there is a ton of stuff to jump into straight from the off. The game has definitely improved in a variety of ways from the previous entry, but all that matters for little if you are not set up to win on the court.
For players hoping to take advantage of mismatches and set up scoring opportunities, this is how you can call plays in NBA 2K25 in style.
Depending on your chosen team, the plays and the players they affect are obviously going to be different. However, the process is going to be the same regardless. When in possession of the ball, press L1/LB. This will bring up specific player icons on the screen.
After selecting the player you want to call a play for, a menu will appear on the right, displaying the various plays that have been drawn up for your target. At this point, you can either call for the play by hitting the corresponding button or change your mind by using the triggers to change the player target. With the right play, you are going to get good shooting looks and open lanes to drive into the paint for easier points.
If there are a couple of plays that will be your go-to on offense, you can head into the menus and under Game Plan in the Offensive Settings. In Play Selection, you can highlight them and have them easily accessible when on the court. Now, instead of selecting a player and then the play, you can hit left on the D-Pad to bring up the Favorite Plays menu to run your chosen plays instantly.
If you wish to practice these plays before going up against your opponent, head to Learn2K to practice any play from the playbook of your choice. This way, you are always ready for whatever happens on the court, even if you are facing strong teams with superstars.
