MUSKEGON, MI – Some of the top boys basketball teams in Michigan will take centerstage at Redmond-Potter Gymnasium at Muskegon High School on Saturday for the annual Muskegon Basketball Showcase.
The three-game event begins at 4 p.m. with Chandler Park Academy taking on Lansing Waverly, followed by an undefeated showdown between Kalamazoo Central and Detroit King. The host Muskegon Big Reds will clash with Ferndale in the final game of the showcase at approximately 7 p.m.
General admission to the event is $10 with reserve seating available for $12. A live stream of all three games can be viewed for $10 through Meridix by following this link: https://webca.st/258496
“We’ve been putting this event on since I was coaching at Muskegon Heights, so it’s been at least 20 years running now,” said Muskegon boys basketball coach and athletic director Keith Guy. “We were one of the first ones to do these types of showcase events and it’s probably one of the longest-running ones out there. It’s just a great day of basketball for the fans of West Michigan to enjoy and it’s a way for these players and programs to showcase themselves against top-tier competition.
“It’s also a great barometer to measure yourself at this point in the season and see how you stack up against some of the best teams in the state.”
The Muskegon Basketball Showcase has seen plenty of notable names and future NBA players take the floor in years past and this year should be another exciting edition of the event.
like“We’ve changed the model of the event recently because it used to be the best teams in Michigan against the best teams in Illinois,” added Guy. “We’ve had NBA players here before like Tyler Ulis, Jahlil Okafor, and Cliff Alexander, and Mr. Basketball winners likes (Deyonta Davis), and Deshaun Thrower. Nate Oats coached in it when he was at Romulus and we’ve had notable names like Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus, play in the event too.”
Below is a look at all three games scheduled for Saturday’s Muskegon Basketball Showcase as well as key players to watch for each team.

“We’re excited to go up against Ferndale,” added Guy. “They have a sophomore in Eden Vinyard who is 6-foot-6 and a really good player and they’ve got some talented guards as well so we’re going to get tested. As a team, they’ve played some really good competition already and their coach Juan Rickman does a great job and he’s established a really good culture over there.”
