Mumbai will face off against Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The MUM vs MP cricket match starts at 4:30 PM IST and will be available to watch on live streaming and live telecast in India.

Started in 2007 as the Inter-State Twenty-20 Tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, renamed in 2010 to honour legendary cricketer Syed Mushtaq Ali, is India’s premier domestic T20 tournament for men.

The Mumbai cricket team will be vying for its second Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, having won its maiden crown back in 2022. Madhya Pradesh, meanwhile, have never been SMAT champions before.

Both teams will be making their second appearance in the finals. The Madhya Pradesh cricket team previously made the summit clash back in 2011 but lost out to Bengal.

Mumbai boast a star-studded batting line-up, which includes the likes of India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, skipper Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw and a resurgent Ajinkya Rahane, who is the tournament’s top scorer with 432 runs from eight matches.

Rahane’s brilliant 98 off 56 balls also played a big part in Mumbai beating Hardik and Krunal Pandya’s Baroda in the semi-finals to earn a title shot.

Mumbai had earlier topped Group E before downing Vidarbha in a high-scoring quarter-final clash.

Madhya Pradesh’s march to the final, meanwhile, has been fronted by captain Rajat Patidar and left-arm spinner Kumar Kartikeya.

Patidar, with 347 runs, is his team’s top scorer and third-highest run-getter overall in the tournament. Kartikeya, with 16 wickets, meanwhile, is the second-highest wicket-taker so far in SMAT 2024.

Venkatesh Iyer’s presence in the lower middle order and his ability to pick up crucial wickets with the ball also give MP a lot of all-round depth in their squad.

MP had topped Group A before beating Saurashtra and Delhi in the quarters and semis, respectively.
