Mulvane grad Jayden Price prepares for first NFL season

MULVANE, Kan. (KWCH) – From breaking records at Mulvane High School to becoming a three-time national champion at North Dakota State University, Jayden Price has made his mark on the turf, and it’s just beginning.

Price saw a lifelong dream come true following the NFL Draft, signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Atlanta Falcons.

“The mindset was always going to the next level whatever level that was,” Price said. “The mindset was always that.”

In his days as a Mulvane Wildcat, Price said he felt he was talented enough to see that dream come to life – he just needed to prove it to the right people.

“I always believed that I was good enough and I always believed that I was athletic enough,” he said. “My film speaks for itself, so I was just waiting on you know, who would take the chance on me.”

His former coach, Dave Fennewald, echoed the sentiment.

“He’s got great confidence and that’s what he knows is going to take him to that level,” Fennewald said. “You just sat back, I don’t remember if it was his sophomore or junior year at the time, but you just go, ‘Wow, he’s so special. He’s just so special.’”

Since signing his first NFL contract, Price said it was an adjustment, but settled in quickly.

“It was an eye opener at first,” he said. “Just getting into practices and stuff like that, I was like, ‘You know, okay, I can hang around these guys and I can be in the mix and be a part of this. I’m here for a reason and I just got to believe that.’”

Now he hopes he can make room for more Kansas kids to follow.

“It doesn’t matter where you come from, it doesn’t matter who you are or how small of a school, you know if you can play ball, they’ll find you,” Price said.”
