MOUNT VERNON, Texas (KLTV) – Mount Vernon ISD has named Travis McClain as their new athletic director and head football coach, the school announced Monday.
McClain comes to Mount Vernon after spending two years at Bogata Rivercrest as the AD/HFC. The Rebels went 3-7 in his first season, but made it to the playoffs last season with an 8-3 record. Before his time at Rivercrest, McClain spent eight years at Celina ISD.
Mount Vernon finished 2-8 last season under Clayton George and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
