After the defeat late Thursday night against Mariano Navone (23), Holger Rune’s (21) mother denied that he had resumed work with his former coach Patrick Mouratoglou (54).
“It is definitely not correct,” said Aneke Rune to TV2 Sport and stated that Rune continues to work with Lars Christensen and Kenneth Carlsen while Patrick Mouratoglou works with Naomi Osaka.
It was the well-respected Argentinian sports media Ole who said on Thursday that Rune had begun working again with Mouratoglou who has coached the Dane on two previous occasions.
The Argentinian media made a false conclusion following an extended interview with Rune where the Dane said that it is a “fantastic feeling to be back with my old coach”. Olé concluded that he was referring to Mouratoglou while in fact, Rune was talking about Lars Christensen.
It didn’t take long for the misunderstanding to spread as TennisTemple.com on Thursday evening published a story with the following headline: “Rune: “I’m back with Mouratoglou and I feel I’m playing better and better”.
Rune was far from his best when he late Thursday night lost in the ATP 250 tournament in Buenos Aires to the Argentine Mariano Navone.
After the match, Rune complained that he hadn´t recovered sufficiently from having the flu earlier in the week.
Rune will take part in the ATP-500 tournament in Rio de Janeiro next week.
