WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – We begin our look at sports Tuesday morning with a trip to the pool.
8th grader Molly Dickinson from Watertown qualified for the New York State swim meet in the 50 Free with a time of 24.59 and also broke the Frontier League Meet record in the 50 Free in the process.
Dickinson is happy about earning a spot in States at such a young age.
“I worked all year for this and have two amazing coaches that have prepared me for this and kepot pushing me all season long,” she says.
Her coach is not surprised.
“Molly has worked extremely hard, she’s at every practice,” says Lori Peters. “She pushes herself and she’s dedicated, so she’s earned every bit of this.”
The best part of this story is: 14 year old Molly was pushed to the wall by 16 year old sister Marra, who placed second… Molly is happy to share her effort with sis.
“It’s just exciting to swim next to my sister and her and I being able to push each other in a friendly kind of way,” Molly says.
Molly is the number one seed in the upcoming sectionals in 2 weeks.
