Red Sox general manager Craig Breslow told reporters on Monday that the team isn’t shopping first baseman Triston Casas. The Mariners reportedly wanted Casas in return for right-hander Luis Castillo, but Boston wanted Seattle to take on the contract of Masataka Yoshida. The 24-year-old Casas missed time due to a fractured rib in 2024, batting .241/.337/.462 with 13 homers in 243 plate appearances.

Former Mets utilityman Lenny Randle passed away Monday at the age of 75. Acquired from the Rangers in 1977, Randle had the best season of his career in Flushing that year, batting .304/.383/.404 with 4.2 bWAR in 136 games. Jay Horwitz recalled doing a podcast with Randle from Italy and reminiscing about the city-wide blackout in the middle of a game in July of 1977.

Jose Siri was selected in the first round of the LIDOM postseason draft. Siri owns a .756 OPS in 59 plate appearances this winter.

The Cubs have expressed interest in Mariners infielder Josh Rojas. The 30-year-old batted just .225/.304/.336 in 476 plate appearances for the Mariners but posted 7 DRS and 6 OAA at third base, and 2 DRS and 2 OAA at second base.

Former Mets reliever Miguel Castro has signed with the Astros. Castro only appeared in 11 games for the Diamondbacks in 2024, posting a 5.93 ERA before being designated for assignment.
