Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Straight No Chaser worked Monday at Santa Anita, his fourth drill since his signature victory at Del Mar. The 6-year-old Dan Blacker trainee covered five furlongs in 1:00.8. Straight No Chaser, an Eclipse Award finalist for champion male sprinter alongside Cogburn and The Chosen Vron, raced only three times in 2024 but two of those races were wins in the Grade 2 Santa Anita Sprint Championship and the Breeders’ Cup.
Another last-out graded winner, Truly Quality, also worked Monday. The 5-year-old, trained by Jonathan Thomas, went four furlongs in 49.2 seconds in his second work since winning the Hollywood Turf Cup (G2) at Del Mar on Nov. 29. That was Truly Quality’s third win in a row and his second straight graded win, after his triumph at Woodbine on Oct. 5 in the Singspiel (G3).

Atone (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational), worked five furlongs in 1:03.3 at Gulfstream Park on Monday morning. It was the slowest of four works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Gulfstream Park. In his last start, he placed sixth in a handicap going one mile on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 1 for trainer Mike Maker.
Straight No Chaser (Speightster), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Breeders’ Cup Sprint), worked five furlongs in 1:00.8 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 21st fastest of 60 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint going six furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 2 for trainer Dan Blacker.
Air Force Red (Air Force Blue), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Joe Hernandez), worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 38th fastest of 114 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he placed seventh in the Joe Hernandez (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Santa Anita on Dec. 28 for trainer Leonard Powell.
Spirit of Makena (Ghostzapper), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Triple Bend), worked five furlongs in 1:00.2 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 60 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he placed ninth in the Santa Anita Sprint Championship (G2) going six furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Sept. 30 for trainer George Papaprodromou.
Stolen Base (Bodemeister), a Grade 2 winner (2022 American Turf), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 70 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going three furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start, he placed 10th in an allowance race going one mile on the turf at Belmont at the Big A on May 17 for trainer Bruce Levine.
Truly Quality (Quality Road), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Hollywood Turf Cup), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 57th fastest of 114 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he won the Hollywood Turf Cup (G2) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 29 for trainer Jonathan Thomas.
Coastal Mission (Great Notion), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Forty Niner), worked three furlongs in 36.7 seconds at Charles Town on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of 11 works at the distance. Dean Martini (Cairo Prince), a Grade 3 winner (2020 Ohio Derby), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at The Thoroughbred Center on Monday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 40 works at the distance. His previous work was 15 days ago going four furlongs at The Thoroughbred Center. Getaway Car (Curlin), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Best Pal), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 114 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he placed second in the Los Alamitos Futurity (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Los Alamitos on Dec. 14 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Nadette (Outstrip), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Wilshire), worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 20 works at the distance. Her previous work was nine days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start, she placed eighth in the Matriarch (G1) going one mile on the turf at Del Mar on Dec. 1 for trainer Neil Drysdale.
Track Phantom (Quality Road), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Lecomte), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Fair Grounds on Monday morning. It was the third fastest of five works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start, he placed fourth in the Tenacious going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Dec. 21 for trainer Steve Asmussen.
