Multiple Grade 1 winner Carson’s Run returned to the work tab Monday for the first time since he won the Grade 3 Jockey Club Derby on Oct. 5. The Christophe Clement trainee, one of the leading grass horses of the sophomore class, went four furlings in 50.55 seconds on the dirt training track at Belmont. A winner at the top level as both a juvenile and a sophomore, he won the Grade 1 Summer at Woodbine in 2023 as well as the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby this year.
Hope Road, an up-and-coming dirt filly for trainer Bob Baffert, drilled a bullet five furlongs at Santa Anita. She covered the distance in 59.4 secondx, fastest of 26 at the distance. In her last start on Aug. 31 at Del Mar, the daughter of Grade 1 winners Quality Road and Marley’s Freedom won the Torrey Pines (G3) by five easy lengths.

In his last start he placed fifth in the Metropolitan Handicap (G1) one mile on the main track at Saratoga on June 8 for trainer Rick Dutrow.

This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Jockey Club Derby Invitational (G3) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 5 for trainer Christophe Clement.
Express Train (Union Rags), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Santa Anita Handicap), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the ninth fastest of 37 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed third in the San Diego Handicap (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Del Mar on July 27 for trainer John Shirreffs.
