Three horses who finished second in Breeders’ Cup races last month were among the graded-stakes winners who worked Monday morning.
Bentornato, second in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint behind Straight No Chaser, fired a bullet in his second drill since the race. The Jose D’Angelo trainee worked four furlongs in 47 seconds flat, fastest of 10 at the distance over the Palm Meadows dirt. According to a Friday report from Mike Welsch of Daily Racing Form, Bentornato is possible for the Malibu (G1) on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita.
Gaming, the Del Mar Futurity (G1) winner who finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile behind Bob Baffert stablemate Citizen Bull, drilled five furlongs in a minute flat at Santa Anita. Motorious, second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, also worked at Santa Anita for trainer Phil D’Amato. His five-furlong time of 59.8 seconds was the second-fastest of eight who covered that distance on the all-weather training track.

Gaming (Game Winner), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Del Mar Futurity), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of 37 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he placed second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 1 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Tenma (Nyquist), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Del Mar Debutante), worked four furlongs in 47.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 60 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start, she placed third in the Oak Leaf (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Oct. 5 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Newgrange (Violence), a three-time Grade 2 winner (2024 San Pasqual, 2023 San Antonio, 2023 San Pasqual), worked five furlongs in 1:01.0 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 11th fastest of 37 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he placed fifth in the San Diego Handicap (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Del Mar on July 27 for trainer Phil D’Amato.

Nooni (Win Win Win), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Sorrento), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 13th fastest of 60 works at the distance.
