Gaming, second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, worked a sharp five furlongs Monday morning at Santa Anita. The Bob Baffert trainee covered those five eighths in 59.6 seconds, the third-fastest time of 24 drills at the distance. Gaming is one of the leaders of Baffert’s deep string of Kentucky Derby prospects, a group that includes Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Citizen Bull.
Hope Road, a 3-year-old filly stablemate of Gaming’s, also was on the work tab Monday at Santa Anita. She drilled five furlongs in a minute flat. Perfect in four starts on the year, Hope Road’s most recent victory came Nov. 2 in the Bayakoa (G3) at Del Mar. She also won the Torrey Pines (G3) in August over the same course.

Bentornato (Valiant Minister), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Gallant Bob), worked six furlongs in 1:13.5 at Palm Meadows on Monday morning. It was the only works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start, he placed second in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint going six furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 2 for trainer Jose D’Angelo.
Instant Coffee (Bolt d’Oro), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked five furlongs in 1:02.4 at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the fastest of five works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he placed third in an allowance race going one mile on the main track at Aqueduct on Nov. 24 for trainer Chad Summers.
Red Route One (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2024 New Orleans Classic), worked four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Oaklawn on Monday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 31 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he placed seventh in the Clark (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 29 for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Motorious (Muhaarar), a three-time Grade 3 winner (2024 Green Flash Handicap, 2023 Green Flash Handicap, 2023 San Simeon), worked five furlongs in 1:00.2 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he placed second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint going five furlongs on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 2 for trainer Phil D’Amato.
