In the Boys’ Class D Championship, Chateaugay faced off against Heuvelton.
It was Chateaugay with an early chance to score but hit the crossbar.
The visitors continue to attack, but Brodey Kelly makes a stop.
Late in the first half, on a corner kick, Kaden Carter directs the ball in front of the net, power headed by Ethan Vincent. Chateaugay goes ahead 1-0.
After Heuvelton ties the game on a Levi Biller goal, 50 seconds later, Colt McAllister puts Heuvelton ahead 2-1 with the game-winner. Heuvelton holds off Chateaugay for the Class D Championship and a berth in the New York State playoffs on Saturday versus Chazy.
In Section 10 Girls’ Soccer, the Class D Championship featured Colton Pierrepont against Harrisville.
The Colts outshot the Pirates 10-1 in the first half. It was Anna Hoose with a shot on goal, scooped up by Harrisville goaltender Lilah Stevenson, battling the wet conditions.
From the corner kick, three players have an opportunity to get the Colts on the board, but again Stevenson snares the loose ball.
Alyssa Fleury feeds Teagan Planty who rips a low line drive off the goaltender for the game’s only goal as Colton Pierrepont wins its first Class D Title since 1991, beating Harrisville 1-0 and advancing to the New York State playoffs versus Chazy on Saturday.
