THE PENINSULA
Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Labour (MoL), represented by the Expatriate Labour Affairs Sector, organised a football tournament for the Indian community.
The tournament is a key initiative by the Ministry to organise sports events for diverse communities.
It aims to raise awareness by working together with these communities to emphasise the importance of sports for community health, workplace safety, and overall well-being.
Teams representing various categories within the Indian community participated in the tournament. The qualifying rounds leading up to the final witnessed intense competition. Eventually, two teams made it to the championship match.
The victorious team was awarded the championship cup and a gold medal, while the second team received a bronze medal. The tournament prizes consisted of trophies awarded to the top player, top scorer, and top goalkeeper.
By engaging with communities, workers, and employers, the Ministry of Labour seeks to instil values of discipline and teamwork, promote sports participation, and help individuals discover their physical abilities. This effort aims to enhance commitment and discipline in both work and housing sites for a safer and healthier environment.
