A 30-minute, mini-documentary on first-year coach Vance Walberg and his Fresno State men’s basketball team will air at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22 on ABC30. The mini-documentary, “DRIVE: Building Bulldog Basketball,” includes behind-the-scenes footage from camps the team held throughout the Valley and practices leading up to the season, as well as exclusive interviews with Walberg and student-athletes Jalen Weaver and Pierre Geneste Jr.
Following the airing, the men’s basketball broadcast team of Paul Loeffler and Marc Q. Jones will be joined by athletics director Garrett Klassy to discuss the program’s tradition and vision for the future as the Bulldogs prepare for Mountain West conference play. The production will re-air at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29 on ABC30.
Securing the job he’s long coveted, Walberg is implementing his nationally-known dribble drive motion offense and offering fans an exciting, uptempo brand of basketball in an effort to make Save Mart Center the place to be for students, fans and the community on game nights.
His effort to turn around the program coming off a couple tough years began with a challenging non-conference slate and 14 newcomers on his 16-man roster. On Dec. 14, the Bulldogs beat San Diego 73-65 to improve to 4-7 on the season. Fresno State next hosts Cal Baptist at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Save Mart Center.
