So long, Hot 105.7. Welcome back, The Fan 105.7.
Four years after switching its FM sports station to a hip-hop/R&B format, radio conglomerate Audacy has switched its station at 105.7 on Milwaukee’s FM dial back to The Fan, the all-sports-talk brand that has broadcast on its twin AM station, WSSP-AM (1250), since 2014.
Radio Insight, an industry news site, reported Monday that, as part of the return of The Fan to the FM dial, the all-sports AM/FM combo has added two new shows: “Pack-A-Day Podcast” with Andy Herman, from 8 to 9 a.m. daily, and a show from 9 to 11 a.m. featuring former Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby and Mitch “Thunder” Nelles.
Two years after the FM and AM stations went different programming directions, WSSP laid off 12 on-air personalities and dropped all of its local sports content on the AM station in favor of CBS sports programming. In April of this year, the AM station added a local show, “Wisconsin Sports Daily” with Steve “Sparky” Fifer, from 2 to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Although WSSP rebranded itself as The Fan in 2014, the AM station has broadcast an all-sports format since 2005. It was Milwaukee’s first all-sports radio station.
In addition to the AM/FM combo with The Fan, Audacy operates WMYX-FM (99.1) and WXSS-FM (103.7) in Milwaukee.
