NEW MANCHESTER — TJ Miller is returning to his alma mater.
Miller, who has had a successful career as a head baseball coach at Oak Glen and currently at Madonna, was officially hired Monday by the Hancock County Board of Education to take his talents to the gridiron and guide the Oak Glen football team.
He will replace Doug Taylor, who coached the Golden Bears for the last three seasons.
Miller said Monday night that he will continue as baseball coach at Madonna for the upcoming season.
A former three-sport athlete and OVAC All-Star football player at Oak Glen in his playing days, Miller was the Golden Bears head baseball coach from 2017-2019 and was an assistant coach for seven seasons prior to taking over.
He was hired in the same role at Weir High in 2020, but COVID canceled that season. He was hired as Madonna’s coach in 2023 and led the Blue Dons to an OVAC championship last season, finishing with a mark of 22-7.
On the gridiron, he was an assistant coach on the football staff at Madonna in 2023, helping the Dons to a winning season. He was previously on the football staff at Beaver Local from 2015-18.
He’s also an assistant wrestling coach at Beaver Local.
He will be tasked with turning around his alma mater after the Golden Bears 1-9 each of the last two seasons.
