NBC’s Sunday Night Football has become synonymous with country artist Carrie Underwood, who wrote and has performed the theme of Sunday Night Football, ‘Waiting All Day for Sunday Night’ since 2013.
During the SNF matchup between the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears, Texans players were shown doing their best rendition of Underwood’s hit song. And let’s just say none of them quite sounded like Underwood typically does…
But regardless, NBC’s broadcast team consisting of Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth, loved the rendition, even calling for more teams to do this in the future.
“What’d you think of that Cris?” said Tirico.
“I think every team in the league, that we come to your city, you should have to do that,” replied Collinsworth. “We’ll have a little competition. Mike will put up a large sum of money for the winner of the competition to your favorite charity. I think it’s only right that everybody just jumps into Sunday Night Football… Carrie (Underwood) is in no danger. But that was really cool.”
“We go to Atlanta next week, right? Alright, Chiefs in Atlanta. So social media teams for the NFL, we’ve given you a gift, we’ve provided content opportunities for you moving forward on Sunday night,” added Tirico.
The Texans sang “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.”
Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico want more.

Tirico and Collinsworth only seemed half serious about their plea to see this every week on Sunday Night Football. But it truly would be cool to see more teams acknowledge the SNF theme more by doing this on Sunday Night Football games in the future.
