Freshman Trent Mierl led University of Missouri men’s golf during the second round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii on Friday.
Mierl carded a two-under 68, finishing just a stroke away from his collegiate-best round. The rookie tallied a team-best six birdies on the day, including three in a four-hole stretch on 17, 18 and 2, as he moved 18 spots up the leaderboard and now sits with a +8 score (80-68).
Sophomore Brock Snyder turned in his second-straight solid round and backed up his four-under 66 on Thursday with a 71 on Friday. Snyder enters the final day in contention for his first career top-10 finish as he is 11th at -3 following a round that included four birdies.
Overall, the Tigers posted a score of +6 for the second-straight day and now sit in 13th with a tally of +12. A total of 17 teams are competing in Hawaii this week, including seven of the top 41 nationally.
The final day of action is set for Saturday with a 1 p.m. CT / 9 a.m. HT tee time.
