MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – The City of Midland celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new fitness court at Dennis the Menace Park near downtown. City officials say they are excited to bring updated, advanced fitness opportunities to the community, making exercise more accessible and promoting a healthier, more active lifestyle.
The outdoor fitness court features seven workout stations, including pull-up bars, burpee stations, and box jumps. Designed for all ages and fitness levels, the court offers a convenient, accessible space for people to improve their health while enjoying the outdoors.
For parents, this new addition offers an added perk—you can watch your kids play at the park while fitting in a workout of your own. Because as the city says, an active community is a healthy community.
To showcase the new fitness court in action, the city hosted a friendly relay competition between the Midland Fire Department and the Midland Police Department. Four members from each department took on the course relay-style, and in the end, the Midland Police Department claimed victory.
The project was made possible through a collaboration with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and the National Fitness Campaign, aiming to provide free wellness and exercise access to residents.
