Michigan State basketball falls at home to Indiana
In what is easily the most disappointing loss of the season so far for Michigan State basketball, the Spartans fell at home on Tuesday night to a struggling Indiana Hoosiers team. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Hoosiers and was the Spartans’ first home loss this season. Indiana won 71 to 67.
This was an extremely frustrating game for MSU, who started the game on a 20 to 8 run. Indiana, in danger of getting run out of the gym, switched to a zone defense that completely baffled the Spartans. Every possession, the Spartans continued taking and missing the shots Indiana was happy to give them as they shot themselves out of the game.
With MSU’s offense stifled, Indiana’s big men completely dominated MSU’s typically staunch defense on the other end, with two Indiana big men getting a double-double, Malik Reneau and Oumar Ballo.
MSU will need to address some of the recent flaws that have been exposed before they play Illinois on Saturday.
