How Michigan football got Belleville QB Bryce Underwood in 2025 class
‘Hail Yes!’ hosts Tony Garcia and Rainer Sabin break down the Wolverines landing No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood.
An offensive lineman who has already won a national championship for the state of Michigan has announced his commitment to Michigan football.
Lawrence Hatter, an interior offensive lineman who is coming off of a Division II national title with Ferris State last month, will join the Wolverines, he declared on social media. He also won a title with the team in 2022.
Hatter, who reportedly had offers from Pittsburgh, Kansas State and North Carolina among others, was named first-team All-GLIAC and a Division II All-American by both the American Football Coaches Association and D2football.com in 2024. A Livonia native, he played his high school ball at Livonia Churchill before spending the beginning of his collegiate career in Big Rapids.
Standing 6 feet 5 and 335 pounds, Hatter has played in 27 games across his career, including all 15 in 2024 and 10 in 2023.
The Wolverines have several connections to the Bulldogs, including tight ends coach Steve Casula — who served as interim offensive coordinator in Michigan’s 19-13 ReliaQuest Bowl win over Alabama — and defensive line coach Lou Esposito. Both were previously on staff under Tony Annese, who was seen on the sideline during Michigan’s bowl practice in Tampa, Florida.
Hatter is now the second offensive lineman U-M is calling upon to perform at a higher level; Grant Newsome’s room also landed Brady Norton from FCS-level Cal Poly.
Michigan has now added 10 players via the portal, the other nine have already signed.
