The Miami Dolphins are in a confusing place with the NFL trade deadline in sight.
At 2-4, the team could decide to punt on the season and do a soft rebuild, stocking up on draft picks and coming back in 2025 with a retooled roster. One of the biggest rumors fluttering around social media is whether the Dolphins would trade Tyreek Hill.
The Dolphins’ offense is the worst in the NFL through seven weeks, but quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is expected to return this week after an IR stint. How he plays after recovering from a concussion could determine GM Chris Grier’s plans at the trade deadline. The Dolphins are still in second place in the AFC East and 1.5 games out of the wild-card hunt. Could they bolster the defense after Jaelan Phillips was lost for the season?

When the Kansas City Chiefs lost Rashee Rice for the season, internet speculation turned quickly to reuniting Tyreek Hill with Patrick Mahomes to fill in the gap. Other news of teams seeking receivers, including the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, have also escalated talks of Hill leaving town.
The Athletic’s Diana Russini said on Tuesday’s episode of the “Scoop City” podcast that the Dolphins had no intention of trading Hill. The receiver signed a three-year, $90 million extension with the Dolphins over the offseason, and he has the biggest cap hit against the team this season at $18.3 million. He has said he wants to stay in Miami and been playing around on social media with the notion that he was on the trading block.
The Jets traded for Davante Adams, and the Bills added Amari Cooper. When news of the Chiefs agreeing to a trade for DeAndre Hopkins broke Wednesday morning, Hill continued his social media tomfoolery with a two-letter post:
The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 5.
Trades must be filed by 4 p.m. ET on deadline day.
The Miami Dolphins currently have seven picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. They are likely adding compensatory picks after Christian Wilkins, Robert Hunt and Andrew Van Ginkel left over the offseason via free agency. The Dolphins traded their third-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to draft Jaylen Wright in April and dealt their sixth-round pick to Chicago for Chase Claypool last season.
