MEXIA, Texas (KWTX) – Micah Kirven, a Mexia High School football player hospitalized after suffering from an asthma attack that led to cardiac arrest early Saturday morning, has passed away, the school district confirmed.
“All of our thoughts and prayers are with the Kirven Family and our Blackcat Family today,” The Mexia Athletics Facebook page states, “We ask you keep his family, his teammates, his coaches, and the Mexia Community in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time.”
In a statement shared with his community, Mexia ISD Superintendent Ryder Appleton said grief counselors would be made available to students and faculty.
“We are saddened by the loss to the our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child,” Appleton wrote.
