Metz Open: Michelsen books spot in last four
American Alex Michelsen, the No 8 seed, edged out Chinese Yunchaokete Bu 6-7 (6), 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the semi-finals of the Metz Open at the Arènes de Metz on Thursday.
Michelsen, ranked No 44, will face qualifier Benjamin Bonzi next.
Ahead of his victory, the 20-year-old American won against French wildcard Harold Mayot (6-3, 6-1) and edged out French wildcard Richard Gasquet (6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 7-6 (8)).
Bu, ranked No 72, defeated Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (7-6 (4), 6-4) and Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong (6-4, 7-6 (1)) earlier in the tournament.
