RC Strasbourg have confirmed that Rayane Messi (17) has been included in their squad to face RC Lens on Sunday afternoon in Ligue 1. The inclusion in the Alsatian club’s squad to face Les Sang et Or is the first for the French youth international.
Donning the 47 shirt, the former Dijon winger could be set to make his Ligue 1 debut against the club from Northern France. Messi is a new signing at the Stade de la Meinau after completing a move worth €1.2m, including bonuses from National 1 side Dijon. The 17-year-old has signed a three-year contract with Strasbourg.
The promising French talent was expected to be integrated into the Racing club’s academy this season. However, Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior must have been impressed with Messi in training and has taken the decision to include him in his squad for the first time with a view to a potential debut.
