Morehead, Ky.– The Morehead State Men’s golf team will travel to Jackson, Tennessee to play in the Grover Page Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee-Martin in the Eagles’ second tournament of their fall campaign on September 16th and 17th. The 6,849-yard par 72 Jackson Country Club will host the event.
“We are once again excited to compete down in Tennessee,” said Morehead State head coach Matthew Martin. “Jackson Country Club is a fantastic venue and typically has some of the best greens we play all season.
The tournament is heavy in Ohio Valley Conference competition. Along with the host UT-Martin, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Eastern Illinois, and Southern Indiana will compete in the tournament. Former OVC members Murray State, Austin Peay and Belmont are also in the field. Presbyterian, Nicholls State, New Orleans, Missouri State, West Georgia, and Southeast Louisiana round out the 15-team field.
Morehead State is fresh off a third-place finish at the Joe Feaganes Invitation hosted by Marshall University in their season opener September 9th and 10th. Junior Logan McCormick paced the Eagles with a five-under par tie for sixth.
“Marshall was a good opening event for us,” said Martin. “Our depth from one to seven was evident and I expect that to come through again this week.”
The first two rounds will be played on Monday, September 16th, with the final round on Tuesday, September 17th.
