ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon men’s golf team will host the Howard “Bud” Elwell Invitational and play in another Erie County tournament over the next four days.

 

First, the Golden Knights will tee it up in the Mercyhurst Laker Fall Invitational on Saturday as the B Team competes for Gannon at Lake View Country Club. Dylan Flinchbaugh (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown), Jacob Wolak (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area), Zach Henry, Vincent Lenze (St. Marys, Pa./St. Marys Area), and Pablo Cerventes are tentatively scheduled to compete on Saturday.

 

Gannon will then host the Elwell Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Whispering Woods Golf Club. About eight teams and 49 players are expected to play in the event. The Gannon A and B Teams will tee it up with California (Pa.), IUP, the Mercyhurst B Team, Millersville, Pitt- Johnstown, and Shepherd.

 

The Golden Knights have won two consecutive tournament titles. They claimed a 10-shot win in the Sunnehanna Collegiate this week after previously winning the Ferris State Bulldog Fall Classic.

 

Sophomore Mattia Parrini (Verolengo, Italy/Verolengo) won the individual title at the Sunnehanna Collegiate, while teammate Rasmus Seppanen (Bastad, Sweden/Akademi Bastad Gymnasium) was the runner-up. Senior Michael Wareham (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) and junior Giovanni Delorenzi (Reggio Emilia, Italy/International School of Modena) tied for 10th, while senior Elijah Ruppert (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) placed 19th.

 

The Gannon men’s golf team is the defending champion in both tournaments after winning the Howard “Bud” Elwell Classic and Laker Fall Invitational in 2023.
