WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men’s golf team sits in a tie for second place out of 19 teams after day one of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic. The Diplomats shot 291 (+3) as a team and trail Gettysburg by just four strokes entering Sunday’s final round. F&M is currently in a tie for second with Swarthmore.
Quishi He and Roy Anderson led the Diplomats with even par rounds on the par-72 course Saturday. Those scores have the top F&M players tied for 14th in the individual standings after day one. Both He and Anderson carded three birdies during the first 18 holes of their respective tournaments.
Oliver Clark (+1) and Max Silverman (+2) were the team’s third and fourth scores, while Shane Lawler recorded a three-over round during a very strong opening round for all members of the team. Clark had a team-best four birdies throughout his round, with Silverman adding three more to his card. Lawler finished his final seven holes at two-under and will look to carry that momentum into Sunday.
The Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic wraps up on Sunday with the final 18 holes. He will tee off first for the Diplomats at 9:30 a.m. Clark (9:39 a.m.), Silverman (9:48 a.m.), Anderson (9:57 a.m.), and Lawler (10:06 a.m.) will follow their teammate off the first hole.
