WASHINGTON (October 6, 2024) – Howard University men’s golf team travels to East Hampton, N.Y., for the Hampton Intercollegiate, hosted by Loyola (Md.) University. The two-day, 54-hole event takes place at the Maidstone Club on the eastern tip of Long Island.
Monday (Oct. 7), the opening round begins with a shotgun start at 7:35 a.m., with the second round to follow upon conclusion of round one. The tournament will wrap up with 18 holes Tuesday (Oct. 8).

HISTORY
The Maidstone club is a private, family-oriented country club in East Hampton, N.Y. Founded in 1891 and surrounded by two golf courses along the Atlantic Ocean, the club is considered to be one of the most elite and prestigious clubs in the Hamptons.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The last collegiate tournament played at the Maidstone country club in East Hampton, N.Y., was the 2023 Hamptons Intercollegiate, which was won by the University of Alabama men’s golf team.
The participants in this year’s tournament include Howard, Loyola (Md.), Arkansas, Florida State, Georgetown, Harvard, Mississippi, Penn, Princeton, Virginia, Wake Forest and Yale.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Sept. 21-22, the team placed 14th overall at the Goat located Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
Sophomore Mitchell Grey (Mississauga, Canada) led the Bison, shooting 12-over par (222) in 54 holes while tying for 33rd in the player leaderboard.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Oct. 13-16, Howard goes to St. Andrews, Scotland, for the St. Andrews Collegiate.
