ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Golden Grizzlies are ready to hit the links and return to the course as they have officially released their 2024-25 slate of matches.
Oakland will officially begin their fall session on Tuesday, Sept. 3 as they host Rochester University. They’ll stay home for the next meet as they host the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate on Saturday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 15.
After a pair of home and local matches to begin the year, Oakland will hit the road for a final four matches of the calendar year, participating in the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Cleveland State (Sept. 30 – Oct. 1), the Carolina Cup at South Carolina Upstate (Oct. 6-8), the Motor City Cup at Central Michigan (Oct. 14-15), and the Musketeers Invitational at Xavier (Oct. 21-22).
Oakland looks to repeat a season-best showing at Xavier in fall of 2023 where they placed third as a team, finishing 29 over par (289. 290, 290).
The Golden Grizzlies will hibernate for about three months before they return to competition, opening the spring season with a late February showing at the World Golf Village Collegiate (Feb. 24-25), hosted by Eastern Kentucky. Oakland will then bring their clubs south to the sunshine state to golf in the LGPA International Collegiate at Stetson University (Mar. 3-4).
To end the regular season, Oakland will head back up the east coast for the Brook Valley Intercollegiate (Mar. 17-18), hosted by East Carolina University, before returning to the midwest for the Don Benbow Invitational at Butler (Mar. 31- Apr. 1), where they scored one of their five top five finishes in 2023-24, and returning to the Rutherford Collegiate at Penn State (Apr. 12-13) for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
Out of their nine road matches, Oakland is returning to six courses they traveled to over the 2023-24 season, with the exceptions being their trips to Penn State, USC Upstate, and Central Michigan, as the team hopes to improve on some already impressive finishes at the locations in their last campaign.
Horizon League Championships will be held from Apr. 19-21, as the Golden Grizzlies look to win their second Horizon League Title in program history, after finishing in the top three in two of the last three seasons.
