NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Central Arkansas men’s golf team nearly completed two full rounds on Monday, with play at the Gulf Coast Collegiate getting called for darkness just before the final few holes. But after 15 holes of the second round, the Bears are currently tied for first place, highlighted by four top-15 placements.
Noah Blaickner and Vukasin Suturovic are tied for fourth place through 33 holes, sitting at two strokes under par. Suturovic is near the top of the leaderboard in birdies, sitting in fourth place with eight holes under par on the day. The rest of the Bears are tied at 24th, each with five. Blaickner was cool and calm all day, with just three bogeys, all in the first round. Since the start of the second round, he’s four strokes under par.
Maksimilian Bialy and Kalle Svederman are three strokes behind their teammates, tied for 12th place. Bialy opened with a 74 in round one, and has since shot a 60 in round two with three holes to go. Svederman has played to the same score, shooting a 73 in round one. Bogdan Sandrini helped himself on the front nine in the second round, sinking three of his five birdies after scoring a 78 in the first round.
Central Arkansas is tied with ULM atop the standings, with Western Carolina six strokes back in third place. Ahead of the leading Bears, there is a three-way tie between ULM’s Thies Poulsen and Louis Anceaux, along with UT-Martin’s Garrett Chumley.
The Bears will finish round two first thing in the morning, then complete the Gulf Coast Collegiate with round three. For complete stats and standings, visit the Tournament Page.
