NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men’s golf team kicks off their 2024 fall season this Monday and Tuesday as they defend their team title at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational in Huntington, West Virginia.

What’s Bruin

• Daniel DeLuca begins his first season as the head coach of the Bruins.  He succeeded Scott Flynn, who retired in May.  DeLuca served as Murray State’s head coach during the 2012-22 season and previously served as an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin and Army.
• The team returns three players from last year’s team.  The top returners are sophomore Grey Goff and junior Conner Brown.  Goff, a Kentucky native, played in nine events as a freshman, posting a 72.9 scoring average and two top-20 finishes.  Brown, a Midstate product, had a 73.6 scoring average and had one top-10 and two top-20 finishes. 
• DeLuca brought in four new newcomers, three transfers and one freshman, with this year’s squad.  The transfers include: Grant Clark (Trinity-TX), Chris Harpum (Cincinnati), and Foster Wood (Rhodes).  The one freshman is Georgia naïve Brennan Cozad. 
• During the 2024-24 season, the team played in 11 events, won three team titles, which is tied for the most by a Belmont squad in the Division I era (2004-05, 2015-16), had a total of eight top-five finishes, and posted the lowest team scoring average in program history, 287.1.

This week’s Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational is a two-day, 54-hole event, with 36 holes contested on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.  It will be held at Guyan Golf and Country Club, which will play to a par of 71 and a length of 6,523 yards. 

This is the ninth time Belmont has competed in the event.  In eight previous visits, the Bruins have six top-eight finishes, including a team championship last season and in 2015.   

Day one play begins Monday morning with a 7:30am CT shotgun start.
